Turda Salt Mine
The most famous tourist attraction in the county, visited by over 2.5 million tourists from around the world since it entered the tourist circuit in 1992. However, the largest number of visitors to the salt mine was recorded after the modernization recent accession of European funds in 2009-2010. Currently, the salt mine is a historical monument of the county and an oasis of relaxation for tourists, who can go boating on the lake in the salt mine, play bowling, climb the Big Wheel carousel, visit the altar or salt mines. Admission is based on a ticket worth 20 lei for adults and allows entry for a day in the salt mine, and pupils, students and retirees benefit from discounts. Inside, however, additional fees may be charged for renting boats, carousels or other activities. Salina is located in Turda, and if you get there, I recommend you do not leave without visiting the salt baths, the ruins of the Potaissa fortress of the Fifth Macedonian Legion and those of the medieval fortress Turda, the tomb of Michael the Brave or the Zoo.
Turzii Gorges
Stay in the Turda area, if you are a nature lover, to enjoy the Turzii Gorges, formed by the erosion of the Jurassic limestone. The gorges have a length of 1,270 m and a maximum height of 200 m and are crossed by the H??date brook. The nature monument has been included in the UNESCO heritage list, because it is one of the most important nature monuments in the area. In Cheile Turzii more than 60 caves have been formed, most of them with lengths of less than 20 m, but the longest is 120 m. In Cheile Turzii a cottage with a medieval look has been built.
The area has been called a nature reserve due to its more than 1,000 species of plants (including wild garlic) and about 67 species of animals, including deer, weasels, foxes, wild boars, rabbits, martens and others.
